At first, and for a long time, the story is told in two separate streams, one being now, the other the past which leads to now. This is done in an excellent manner, giving the reader information bit by bit and keeping him or her in the dark about lots of things. This makes the book very interesting and leaves room for some unexpected turns.It is hard to tell something about the contents without a spoiler, so I keep it to the bare minimum; for more, you will have to read the book, it's worth it. Kendall and her three month old baby boy miraculously survive a car crash mostly unscathed. Before the car is washed away by the river, she manages to pull out the badly injured driver, but not the other passenger. The driver can not remember anything, not even who he is. A great chance for Kendall to escape. But even though the driver has no memory, his instincts are still intact and on high alert...
ich liebe dieses buch. nichtsahnend angefangen zu lesen, konnte ich nicht mehr aufhören zu lesen, bis ich mit dem buch durch war. KEINE SPOILER! nach meinem geschmack, eins der besten bücher von sandra - spannung pur - zum nägel kauen, hier und da tatsächlich unvorhersehbar und hey - wie immer - auch sexy.

My first Sandra Brown book so far.I can not understand the first lady here,who gave just 1 star. "The Witness" is a GREAT read!
This is my first book by Sandra Brown, and it was great! There were enough twist and turns in this story to keep you reading.....I loved the way she slowly developed Kendall and John's relationship, and allowed John to slowly deal with his feelings about children... Matt's relationship with his very poor excuse for a father, was one that makes you take a long hard look at your own relationship with your kids.. The character "Ricky Sue", although she always had Kendall's best interest at heart, she nearly cost her besfriend her life, with one stupid mistake, but I think she learned a hefty lesson from it all. In my opinion her biggest problem was putting to much trust in people (in her case the wrong people) and having very low self-esteem.....I look forward to reading more of Ms Browns novels.
Ms. Brown has brought us another powerfully written romantic thriller. In "The Witness", we meet Kendall Deaton, a strong, loving, woman on the run.From the opening setting of a horrid auto accident to her runaway life with her pseduo-husband....the authoress keeps us turning the pages as fast as we can read them.A great romatic read for summer or any season!Thanks--CDS
This is my first experience with Sandra Brown and I loved it! This book had all the recipe for a great suspense. First, tough characters, great plot and fantastic story-telling. It was everything that I need to spend one afternoon and believe it or not...I felt tired after reading it. Like enjoying a full-speed ride.
One of Sandra Brown's best, this book is a super-fast read. Heavy on the suspense with just the right amount of romance. And some of the creepiest bad guys I've seen in quite some time. There are many, many plot twists that keep you guessing right up until the end. There are no loose ends left by the satisfying conclusion. Ms. Brown, keep those romance thrillers coming! I'm hooked!
